TORONTO A seasoned professional, Helen's experience within the retail and fashion industry includes creative visual installation, merchandising, off-figure as well as wardrobe styling for print and fashion shows, event design and production, including overseeing the production of print collateral for event and in-store ad campaigns.
After graduating from the Ontario College of Art and Design in Fine Arts Photography, Helen began her career in visual presentation at Eaton's Department store. Her keen eye and interest in designer fashion naturally led her to luxury goods retailer, Holt Renfrew where she was the Senior Visual Presentation Specialist of womenswear. Thereafter, Helen joined Pink Tartan as the Director of Marketing and Visual Presentation. For six seasons, Helen styled and produced the collections for look books, fashion shows and events, including the uniform launches for Porter Airlines and The Elgin Theatre. She also conceptualized and implemented seasonal installations at the company’s New York and Toronto showrooms, and oversaw the layout and production of the brand's printed, seasonal look books.
Helen has freelanced as an off-figure and wardrobe stylist, having worked on various projects for Bell, Chatelaine, The Hour, The Royal Ontario Museum, Brill Communications, II x IV Design, Smythe, Milli LTD, Joseph Mimran and Associates and The Lingerie Francaise Paris Lingerie Fashion Show. She has appeared on the CBC’s, The Steven & Chris Show and produced an event installation at the Glass Houses in New York for Lord & Taylor's private label launch of 424 Fifth.
She has also instructed Photo Styling courses at Seneca College and Styling courses for the Visual Merchandising Program at Sheridan College, as well as having written and instructed a Professional Practice course.
Currently, Helen is the Director of Visual Presentation at The Room; a luxury designer department located within the Hudson's Bay. Since 2009 she has conceptualized and implemented the creative visual presentation, special event and trunk show installations as well as designer personal appearance events for brands, including Thom Browne, Proenza Schouler, Mugler, Mary Katrantzou, Erdem, Charlotte Olympia, Viktor & Rolf, Alessandra Rich, Peter Pilotto, Sies Marjan, Roland Mouret and Derek Blasberg, among others.
She was part of the team which oversaw the installations at The Room for God Save the Queen: The Next British Invasion; a two day event in which 10 British designer collections were on display, When Tommy Met Anna; an exhibit of photos featuring Anna Dello Russo photographed by Tommy Ton as well as Fashion Blows; a multimedia exhibit featuring a collection of outfits worn by the legendary fashion editor, creative director and stylist, Isabella Blow
Helen was also on the committee for Haute Affair, a charity event organized by the HBC Foundation which presented the spring/summer 2018 runway collection of renowned Italian fashion designer, Giambattista Valli at the Crystal Ballroom located within the King Edward Hotel for a seated guest list of 280 where she oversaw the visual elements including event design and decor.
She designed the updated space at The Room, Vancouver where she implemented innovative concepts, redefining the shopping experience and most recently, collaborated with the Creative Director to re-establish The Room, Toronto as an elevated shopping experience by reimagining the space through the use of fashion, art and interior design.
